Fortnite: Battle Royale’supcoming Marshmello concert

Fortnite: Battle Royale’supcoming Marshmello concert, but where we’re going, we don’t need an official announcement. A slew of leaks after update v7.30 yesterday showed off an upcoming event centered around a concert from DJ Marshmello at Pleasant Park, complete with its own respawn-enabled LTM as well as its own challenges. And while there’s no official announcement, there’s little doubt that this thing is actually happening. If you go to Pleasant Park right now, you can see the stage already going up free v bucks generator.

The big show will be happening on the football field towards the center of town: if you drop in right now you can see a stage, a couple of trucks, a frame for lights and one long stack of speakers. I assume that we’ll see some moderate progress on construction every day from now until Saturday, which is when the concert is supposed to happen. Dataminer Lucas7Yoshi found some posters that will be going up all over the map with the date and time on them, and those will probably start showing up tomorrow or the next day. It’s also possible that you can hear the music that will be playing during the concert in replay mode, though this might not be what actually shows up when the event goes live. You can hear that below:

It’s an interesting concept for an in-game event, there’s no doubt about that. In some ways, it’s as much of a concept for the music industry as it is one for the video game industry. It’s not the first in-game concert we’ve ever seen–whenever you want to see early examples of that sort of thing, Second Lifeusually has you covered–but everything is different when it happens on the scale of Fortnite. I’d venture to guess that this will be the most “attended” concert of the year by a wide margin, and even the recent spate live-action TV musicals seem to have maxed out at approximately 18 million viewers, which I imagine Fortnite will be able to top quite handily.
